On cooperation in training of Afghan National Police

Considering the fact that some local mass media sources published the information about the alleged intention of the Russian Federation to send to Afghanistan 225 instructors to train the personnel of the Afghan National Police, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan declares the following.

Indeed the President of the Russian Federation D.Medvedev and his Afghan counterpart H.Karzai discussed the further cooperation in the sphere of training the personnel of the Afghan National police, on the 28th of August 2008 on the field of the SOC summit in Dushanbe. President D.Medvedev confirmed the readiness to admit 225 staff members of the Afghan National Police to different educational centers of the Ministry of interior affairs of the Russian Federation for short-term courses.

The two sides didnt discuss any agreements of sending Russian instructors to Afghanistan.
